Yours Truly, Steve Dolinsky

After yesterday’s mayoral inauguration, we can only imagine the number of requests flooding toward the Rahmfather. One of Delve’s fave Chicago foodies, ABC 7’s Steve Dolinsky, sent an open letter to the city’s new main man on behalf of all of us hungry Chicagoans. The point of the letter? In addition to making sure Mr. Emanual is keeping up with the cities top issues (hello rising crime rates, CTA unpleasantries and increased attention to the public school system), Dolinsky addressed another very pressing issue for anyone calling Chicago home: the culinary scene.

What’s he asking for exactly?

Food Trucks: Dolinsky makes an obvious point in the fact that lunch options for those of us working in the Loop are few and far between. His call to action: “Please go have a Naanwich Summit up in Edgewater with gaztro-wagon's Matt Maroni, 32nd Ward Alderman Waguespack and Keefer's owner Glen Keefer and hammer out a compromise that will work for everyone, so your humble, hungry subjects can start quality noshing downtown on weekdays.”

Indoor/Outdoor Market: We could not agree with this one more. We’re used to NYC having things we don’t have (we heart you Chelsea Market…), but when Cleveland and Minneapolis are able to produce top notch indoor/outdoor markets and we for some reason can’t, now we have a problem. Dolinsky is pushing for West Town to house this Chicago phenomenon, suggesting working to give Lincoln Park’s Green City Market a year round home. But at this point, we’ll take it anywhere.

While we’re on the subject, Mr. Mayor, Delve has a few items on our culinary wish list as well. With your encouragement, we're sure restaurateurs will pick up on the below:

  • Alcohol-infused treats: We’re talking the likes of tequila snow cones and donuts made for the 21+
  • Ramen, ramen and more ramen
  • Happy hours: Chi City has one to many laws on happy hour cocktail'ing
  • Wine on tap: Paris Club and Eno have it down…but we want more
  • Pop-up kitchens: once again, we want more
