Must See: Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty

While we don't often like to leave our city for its louder, dirtier and more expensive counterpart (aka NYC), sometimes a trip to the Big Apple is a must. Between now and July 31 that's never been more true because The Met is home to the "Savage Beauty" exhibit showcasing the works of the one and only Alexander McQueen. Words can't describe the dark, twisted beauty of McQueen's body of work, with every room in the exhibit seeming to top the next. Showcasing everything from his postgraduate collection in 1992 to his final runway presentation in February of 2010, his iconic designs take fashion to a level that is not of this world.

Claustrophobics be warned. Visiting the exhibit this past weekend, we waited in line for an hour, only to walk through the exhibit shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of others. Needless to say the crowds were worth it, bedazzled armadillo shoes are even more mind-boggling in real life.

Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty
Running until July 31, 2011
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC
