5 Beers of Summer

‘Tis the season of street fests and barbecues, and your intake of domestic drafts is likely reaching a point that you’d rather not admit. So when you actually have the opportunity to choose your brew, opt for one of Delve’s below top five picks for summer’s best beers. Boasting lower ABVs than your go-to winter beers, go ahead and opt in for that full day of drinking.

  • Flying Dog Backyard Ale – Flying Dog brewmasters + chef Bryan Voltaggio = one happy summer. The smoky amber ale is a perfect complement to the smokiness of the grill. Happy BBQ season to all.
  • Brooklyn Summer – We’re seeing beers from Brooklyn Brewery at more and more bars in the Chi, and with this grapefruit-inspired addition, we're welcoming them with open arms.
  • New Belgium’s Skinny Dip – It’s summer. You’re at the lake house. Why wouldn’t you be skinny dipping?
  • Bell’s Oberon – It’s orange-y. It’s wheat-y. It’s hoppy. It’s delish.
  • Allagash White – A lighter version of Hoeggarden, this slightly fruity libation replaces any excuse for a non-alcoholic beverage.

Now that the “official” start to Summer has arrived, wave goodbye to the days of the wintery stouts, and hello to a round of gently hopped, citrusy, light-on-the-taste-buds brews.
